DIY Toile Chargers from Dollar Tree

Hello friends! Today I am sharing another fun (high end) Dollar Tree DIY. This was actually a project that I envisioned for quite a while before I actually created it. One of the reasons it took me so long was that I needed to have the perfect transfer print for it.

There are many Dollar Tree Charger DIYs out there and most of them are the same ones over and over again. This time I wanted to be sure it was different and totally worth the effort ?.

At $1.25 the gold chargers at Dollar Tree are still a great deal and are always an easy find. I am sure you have some in your stash.

My first step was painting them white. I used DIY Paint’s White Swan for this.

Next I used Iron Orchid Design’s Transfer English Toile.

It is the perfect greige and while it is a traditional print, it is still modern enough to be used with any decor due to its neutral palette.

Once the paint is completely dry, place the transfer on top of your surface.

Then, using the plastic spatula each transfer package comes with, start pressing the image onto the surface of the charger. You will see that the images start coming off the transfer sheet as you do this.

Note* These sheets are slightly narrower than the plates, so I cut out smaller extra pieces and added them where I needed to fill in any gaps on the borders.

After the image is on the charger surface I came in with DIY Paint’s Big Top to seal it in and create a water proof satin surface.

I let them cure overnight and that’s it! Now you have a gorgeous plate charger that will be a conversation starter at your next get-together!

It can easily be dressed up for a formal dinner or used in casual dining. I added these brown leather DIY napkin rings that I made a couple of Christmases ago.

I paired them with these artisanal reclaimed wooden lanterns from Plow & Hearth and they give a nice cozy feel to my table setting.
